Jacob's father reports: "On Day 17, I am pleased to share that Jacob is doing well, all things considered. His resilient spirit, relentless positivity, and deep integrity are serving him well. He LOVES receiving letters! He has highly-restricted access to outgoing phone calls and email to a short list of approved recipients (text only; no attachments; no internet access). Jacob is on a top bunk of a bunkbed in a room with 19 other men. He is allowed to take private showers. He has been reading and writing copious amounts. He has been able to go for a run almost every day, on an outside track that is inside the fence. He said that the hills outside of the barbed wire remind him of the hills of southern Germany. He tells me that he is making friends, and that he has encountered many wonderful fellow inmates. I am so grateful. He is very committed to helping others while he is serving time. He is pursuing a job on the horticulture crew. His mother and I are awaiting approval to visit him in person. Onward we go."
